The Gambeson Lined Shirt takes its name from the medieval long quilted garment worn underneath, or instead of, metal armour. Each panel is fully lined with cotton casement and quilted in a single V- stitch line from one corner to the other. Labelled as a shirt, this is definitely more a shop coat, slim and long in proportion with long sleeves to be rolled.

This one is dyed with Chlorophyll, a dye hard to obtain due to it denaturing and changing to darker brown. It imparts a delicate green, softer than mineral dyes such as viridian or verdigris, and cleaner than mixed greens like those derived from turmeric and indigo.

Belisha beacons were introduced to British pedestrian road crossings in 1934 by the Minister of Transport Leslie Hoare-Belisha. They consist of a flashing yellow lamp at the top of a striped black and white pole. Belisha Stripe fabric is woven on an ecru cotton warp with wide bands of ecru cotton and Japanese indigo-dyed weft yarns,
matching the proportions of a Belisha beacon. The indigo yarn will
fade and bleed as the garment wears in and is washed, softening the stripe edges.
