Type iconic N-1 jacket was originally designed in the early 1940’s as a three-piece suit consisting of trousers, jacket and helmet. The jacket became an iconic piece of clothing for the military during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The jacket was adopted by veterans and civilians alike in the post war era. It was a favourite of early motorcycle club riders and was famously worn by Paul Newman and James Dean.
Constructed from a durable cotton "Jungle Cloth", and lined with double-faced alpaca-and-wool pile, this is cold weather jacket that will be a companion through many Winters ahead.
This Khaki version superseded the original Navy issue in 1944 and was produced right through until 1969 becoming one of the longest serving garments in US military history.
