This work, which has now been reprinted, was originally produced by Isoshima Shoten's brand `Hale Aloha'' in the late 1940s, and was sewn in Hawaii, using fabric printed at a dyeing factory in Japan at the time. It is based on an unreleased vintage aloha shirt newly acquired in recent years, and is the first time Sun Surf has reprinted it with its real name.

The motif of the pattern is `Takasago', one of the performances of Noh, a traditional Japanese performing art. It has a very auspicious design, depicting an elderly couple holding a rake to collect good fortune and a broom to ward off evil spirits, as well as pine, bamboo, plum blossoms, cranes, and the morning sun, which are symbols of auspiciousness.

Designs reminiscent of Japan supported Japanese immigrants at the time, who crossed the ocean and lived in Hawaii while thinking of their distant hometown. Therefore, there are many oriental designs (Japanese patterns) on vintage aloha shirts, and works such as this one that are based on traditional Japanese culture have also been discovered.
