The Turvy Compass Pocket Jacket is based on the Compass Pocket Shirt, spun around by 90° so that the tails join at the front and back of the jacket, and the large curved pockets sit all the way across each side of the body.

The jacket body panels are fully lined with cotton satin curtain lining, but the sleeves are unlined to keep them light and so that they can easily be rolled up.The pocket panels are cut as circles (marked out with a compass) and folded in half.

This mid-weight ecru cotton twill is woven with a weft stripe of Japanese rope-dyed indigo yarn picks, pushed to the surface of the cloth forming a raised stripe on the face only. Details include olive wood buttons also.

Tender has its roots in antique workwear and machinery, especially from the Great British Steam Age. On a steam train, the tender was the truck which carried the coal and water to power the locomotive, and was coupled in between the engine and the carriages. They were built incredibly solidly, mostly from riveted cast iron, and had to hold enough fuel to take a train weighing many tons all over Britain.

Polymath William Kroll is from the UK where he hones his various crafts and designs his British-made clothes and accessories. They are manufactured in small factories, ateliers, and homes around the country, exploring new approaches to traditional weaving, making, tanning, and dyeing.

His pieces are truly unique, possessing a rough, everlasting charm that only increases with age and use.
