A new style of short, more utilitarian in shape, with the large climbing pockets on the rear to accomodate a whole wealth of snacks, plus the adjustable belt at the waist and elastic adjusters on the legs.. In contrast to this modern shape, the garment is made in a wonderful Ikat fabric, a process rooted in India for thousands of years.

In Andhra Pradesh, Kardo work with artisans of Natural Loom, who have practiced the making of ikat yarns for generations. The yarns are bound and dyed in sections, so the design appears only as the weaving begins. Their patterns have edges that soften where the dyed and undyed yarns meet  a signature of this craft. A technique that is both exacting and guided by the hand, giving each length of cloth a pattern that is never exactly repeated.
