LEVI'S VINTAGE CLOTHING 1947 501 JEANS - RIGID
The 1947 501 was the jean of a new generation. After WWII when raw materials became available again, Levi's could be made again with their orginal features, returning to heavy production to meet a growing demand. By the late 1940s, Levi's jeans were updated and aimed at the emerging middle class. With a slimmer fit and no extra details like the cinch or suspender buttons, the 1947 501 was a jean for a changing time. However it still marked the return of classic 501 features, such as the watch pocket rivets. Thanks to new double-needle technology, the famed double-arched stitch could be mass-produced in uniform size and design, no longer subject to the sewing skills of the individual worker. Arguably the starting point for every good pair of jeans, both in construction and fit since their creation.
These are a shrink-to-fit denim and will shrink roughly two inches in the waist and length if washed.
