Cotton covert material was used for American workwear from the 1940s to the 1950s. It is a chambray-like fabric made by twisting colored and white warp threads together to make a single thread and weaving it into a single thread. By expressing the fine shades in the fabric, the aim was to make dirt that would get dirty while working less noticeable. Details include twin chest pockets, tonal buttons, chain stitch side seams and run off at base, with selvedge gusset detail.
