PAPA NUI SIERRA HAT - RED
PAPA NUI SIERRA HAT - RED
Post WWII saw an increased interest in outdoor activities as returning servicemen sought peace and solitude in America’s National Parks.
Any period photograph found in National Geographic, will yield a wealth of visual reference showing gear worn in the great outdoors. Predominate is the use of surplus military, Army rucksacks, P-42 pants and M-43 jackets abound, unconsciously mixed back with wool plaids from L.L. Bean and Eddie Bauer.
Adorning heads, the Papa Nui Sierra Hat is prevalent. A bright red cotton variant of the military’s Daisy Mae, the Sierra is built tough in Japanese twill and bridges perfectly the twin themes of Outdoor and Military styles, an iconic combination that is as relevant today as it was in 1947.
