SUGAR CANE FICTION ROMANCE 6.2oz. INDIGO STRIPE WORK SHIRT
SUGAR CANE FICTION ROMANCE 6.2oz. INDIGO STRIPE WORK SHIRT
For this very detailed shirt, Toyo have taken dead stock indigo-dyed Japanese cloth, only 33cm wide, and replicated the pattern of thread exactly as original. The width was adjusted to about three times that of the original, and the cloth was woven on an original shuttle loom.
The design is based on an American work shirt with double flap pockets seen in the 1940s and 1950s. Selvedge is used on the back of the placket and the edges of the weave on the sides. The back yoke and the union ticket on the hem, the open loop finish on the sides and the hem are distinctive, and cat's eye-shaped black mother-of-pearl buttons are used on the front. A paper tag with "INDIGO" is attached to the collar.
Fiction Romance
By reviewing and examining the documents of the time, Sugar Cane has revived a full range of functional details that are typical of the vintage work wear. It then combined the individual authentic details and uniquely applied them into their own items under the name of “Fiction Romance.”
